Home groups are a developing and significant part of the healthy church community life here.
In our groups we find personal discovery and spiritual growth as we learn, ask questions, involve ourselves in the lives of others and generally make ourselves vulnerable among other people who are doing just the same.
During Lent we had a significant number of people who attended a seven session home group which followed the Churches Together course entitled ‘The Mystery of God,’ and challenged us to consider such issues as Life and Death, Good and Evil, Sin, Suffering and Hope. There was much for us to engage with in our discussions.
We now have two regular Bible study groups meeting on a weekly basis. The morning home study group is held in Mickleham on Thursdays from 11am to 12.30pm and in September 2019 a new Monday evening group began meeting in the recently refurbished Westhumble Chapel at 7.45pm for 8pm until 9pm. These groups provide a wonderful opportunity to meet with others, to study the Bible, share the joys and challenges together of being a Christian in society today, chat, share refreshments, and to get to know one another better.
Particular seasons in life and the church’s calendar also provide times for shorter fixed length groups to meet together.

During Advent we followed the ‘Cover to Cover - Journey to Christmas’ books to help us slow down, focus and prepare ourselves for meeting Jesus at Christmas and when He returns to earth. The mix of daily readings, times to pause and rejoice/reflect, before asking God for what He had laid on our hearts, followed by a time of prayer, proved hugely encouraging to all.
Our Lent 2020 course dates are already booked for 26th February (Ash Wednesday) at 7.35pm and then on Tuesdays 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st March all starting at 7.30pm at the Rectory.
Home groups offer smaller meetings than larger church gatherings, helping relationships to develop, building a sense of community and belonging. Deeper friendships are forming too, as people share and grow in understanding and spiritual maturity.
New members are always welcome, do come and join these informal and enjoyable groups.
