SUNDAYS

We believe that God loves a united church, for He tells us to "not give up meeting together" (Hebrews 10:25) and in our parish Sundays are an important time to do this, as we meet to worship God together. In addition, we enjoy encouraging one another, learning and having fun in an environment where we all seek to continue to grow into the person God has called us to be.

We have two services every Sunday, and three services once a month, offering something for everyone.

At 8am there is a traditional service of Holy Communion. We use the Common Worship service, with no hymn singing. The service lasts approximately 30 minutes and includes a short address in the form of a homily, or a Thought for the Day. This service provides the opportunity for a more contemplative and quiet start to Sundays.

On the first Sunday of each month the main 10am service is for all members of the church as we enjoy a Family Service together. This follows an informal yet structured format, contemporary and fun, using relevant multi-media and lively interaction to create a great environment for learning and growing in our faith.

For all other Sundays at 10am the service is Holy Communion, using a service book, and with a choir and organist. Canon John and the choir wear robes at these services. Following the Common Worship format, this service encourages Christians to receive bread and wine, whilst some people prefer to come to the front to receive a special prayer and blessing from Canon John. We know that when God gives life, spiritually as well as physically, He does so through the power of His Word, and so we place significant emphasis on sharing and teaching from the Bible.

A carpeted area in church has been lovingly created for children so they can share in our services, with appropriate resources for them to enjoy, and families are warmly welcome at all our services.

At the end of our main 10am service, refreshments are served every Sunday and these are enjoyable times for making new friends and catching up with existing ones!

There are also services held at Westhumble Chapel twice a month. On the second Sunday of the month there is a traditional service of Morning Prayer held at 11.30am, whilst the 8am Communion Service is held there every fourth Sunday.
